Gli MTV Europe Music Awards, in sigla EMAs o EMA, sono una manifestazione organizzata dall'emittente televisiva MTV Networks Europe, dove vengono premiati i cantanti e le canzoni più popolari del Vecchio Continente.

La prima edizione degli MTV Europe Music Awards si è tenuta nel 1994. In origine questo premio era stato pensato in alternativa agli americani MTV Video Music Awards. Oggi la trasmissione è diventata molto popolare in tutto il mondo.

Gli MTV Europe Music Awards si tengono ogni anno in una diversa città europea (l'Italia li ha ospitati nel 1998 a Milano e nel 2004 a Roma). La premiazione viene trasmessa ogni anno dal vivo da MTV, e tra i premi assegnati ve n'è uno per il miglior artista di ogni paese europeo in cui è trasmessa l'emittente televisiva musicale.

Generalmente i premi sono assegnati tramite votazioni sul sito ufficiale, in cui gli utenti possono votare i loro artisti preferiti per la candidatura e successivamente decretare il vincitore di ogni categoria.

Gli ultimi EMA si sono tenuti per la quarta volta in Germania il 5 novembre 2009 a Berlino, in coincidenza con il ventesimo anniversario della caduta del muro. Lo spettacolo si è svolto nell'O₂ World e di fronte la Porta di Brandeburgo^[1].

Le prime indiscrezioni sugli MTV EMA 2010 parlano di 2 città candidate ad ospitare l'evento: Torino e Parigi.^[2].
